Sepoy's guest blogger provides a discussion on the state of religion in the USofA. It's a four part series, so for those of you with ADD, please look away now: Part I, Part II, Part III, Part IV. (My only comment, shamefully, is to nitpick at Seopy's notes which preface each section: it's not just the salafiyya who claim the Qur'an as a "literal truth" (whatever a "literal truth" really is). In fact, the origins of the Salafis are found in Abduh's modernist project.)
