I could not agree with you more. I volunteer at a local mosque in my city as a parking attendant after seeing people "nuking" it out in the parking lot, after Jummah, over car's being blocked. Disgusting!!!
I also have noticed that great hurry to vacate the mosque, and at the opposite extreme the propensity to "socialize" at the doors and in the corridors blocking the passage for everyone else. I will not talk about the cleanliness issue (my biggest pet peeve) in wudhu places.
I have raised these issues to the mosque leaders but they do not care, they are always too busy in-fighting over board seat and how to spend Zakat monies.
Judging by people's reaction, after I came back from a work related trip that causes me to miss Jummah there, they do appreciate the "little" service we provide by stopping people from parking and blocking other people's car.
Other such silliness in various mosque related activities betray an utter lack of leadership in the etymological sense of the word. It seems that nowadays' Muslims are only interested in positional leadership and running their mouth from whatever bully pulpit is given to them.

We are a disgrace to Islam.
